Selecting and drying wood – beginning in nature

All the magic begins with the right wood. The choice of raw material is a key moment that determines the quality of the final product. Depending on the project, it can be oak, beech, walnut, ash or other species – each of them has its own unique features, colors and properties. The wood is carefully selected for its structure, density and natural grain, which will give the furniture character. True masters of craftsmanship can see the potential in every piece of wood, knowing that each log tells its own story.

Wood immediately after cutting contains a large amount of moisture, which can lead to cracks and deformations in later stages of production. Therefore, an important step before delivery to the workshop is its drying. The wood is dried in special chambers or using traditional methods in the air until it reaches the appropriate moisture content (usually around 8-10%). This is the time when the wood “breathes” and matures, preparing for further processing. Our carpentry workshop receives seasoned and dried material from certified Polish sources.

Furniture design process – from idea to implementation

Furniture design is a complex process that combines creativity with precise planning and technical knowledge. Each stage is crucial to creating a functional, aesthetic and durable product. Here is how the process looks step by step:

Idea and sketches – project outline

Each piece of furniture starts with an idea, often inspired by current trends, user needs or a specific interior style. At this stage, we analyze what room the piece of furniture will be intended for (living room, office, kitchen, etc.), what functions it should perform (table, chair, cabinet) and what dimensions and proportions it should have. This is also the moment when the designer can reach for various sources of inspiration – nature, history of design, art or modern technological solutions. At this stage, different variants of the project can be created, and later the one that best meets the assumptions can be selected. An important element in this phase is also considering the functionality of the furniture and the comfort of use. If we design furniture especially for you - we involve you in the process from the very first message!

Technical design – construction details

Once the general shape of the furniture has been accepted, it is time to develop a detailed technical design. Here, the designer moves on to dimensioning, creating precise technical drawings and determining the details of the construction. He determines what materials the furniture will be made of, what the connections will look like (e.g. dowels, screws, joints) and what woodworking techniques or other materials will be used. In this phase, the stability of the structure, durability of the materials and ergonomics are also taken into account so that the furniture is functional and safe to use.

Prototype – testing the idea

Before the furniture goes into production, a prototype is created. This is a physical version of the design, which allows you to assess how the individual elements work together in reality. The prototype allows you to make corrections to the structure, form or materials before the furniture is put into mass production. At this stage, it is also checked whether the furniture fulfills its functions and is comfortable to use.

Production – project implementation

After accepting all the details and corrections, the design moves on to the production phase.

Cutting, gluing and shaping – work on machines

The first process that the material goes through is cutting. Wood likes to change its shape by shrinking or expanding, which is why when producing furniture, we glue it from smaller strips. Additionally, we glue table tops in layers. Thanks to modern CNC machines, we are able to achieve repeatability of elements for our furniture. At this stage, the real magic begins – pieces of wood become part of a larger picture, which will soon transform into a table, cabinet or chair. The first shapes come out of the machine – legs, countertops, cabinet fronts – all in accordance with the design.

We have our own machinery, thanks to which we can make individual projects, tailored to the needs of our customers.

Hand processing and assembly – the soul of furniture

Although modern machines speed up work, hand processing of wood still plays a huge role. Craftsmen meticulously smooth the surface, remove irregularities, shape details and refine the smallest details. It is at this stage that characteristic decorations, millings or elements are created, which give furniture an individual character. The use of hand tools also allows for precise matching of elements to each other – joining wood using traditional methods, such as mortises, tenons or dowels, ensures not only solidity, but also aesthetics.

After precise processing, wooden elements are ready to be assembled into a whole. This is the moment when the furniture begins to take shape. Often, this is the most important stage, when all previously prepared parts are connected – legs, tops, drawers, shelves – into one, functional whole. In this process, great precision is necessary so that each part fits together perfectly and the whole is stable.

Meticulous finish
Before applying the oil, the wood must be properly prepared – carefully sanded. This is an important step, because a smooth surface ensures even absorption of the oil. Any dust must be removed to avoid dirt.

The first layer of oil is applied in a thin layer using a cloth, brush or applicator. After applying the oil, the excess should be removed and the furniture left to dry for a few hours. The oil penetrates the wood, improving its structure and protecting it from moisture.

For better protection and aesthetics, we apply 2 layers of oil.

After applying the last layer of oil, the wood is polished with a soft cloth, which gives it a subtle shine. At this stage, the furniture takes on a natural, warm look, emphasizing the structure and grain of the wood.

Quality control – we check every detail

Before leaving the workshop, each piece of furniture undergoes a thorough quality control. This is the moment when the stability, functionality and aesthetics of the product are checked. Each element is checked for possible defects, imperfections or unfinished details. Only after positive verification is the furniture ready to go to the customer.

Packing and transport – ready for a new life

Once the furniture has passed all stages of production, it is carefully packed so that it reaches the customer in an intact condition. The product prepared in this way will soon reach your home to fill it with warmth, natural beauty and timeless functionality.

The process of designing furniture is a combination of creativity, technical knowledge and practical maturity. From the first sketches to the final production, each stage is important to create a product that is both beautiful and functional. Furniture design is an art that requires attention to every detail - from the selection of materials to perfect execution. Each project is a new story that begins with an idea and ends with a finished, usable work of art.
